This stunning combination wardrobe bears the makers logo as 'T Wallace & Co Ltd, Holborn Circus, London'. Likely made during the late Victorian period using fine grain walnut the wardrobe can be dismantled to make transport and installation into modern homes possible. The cornice lifts from the top which allows the three main sections (two single door wardrobes and the central chest of drawers with cupboard above) to be separated. This then leaves the base plinth which locates and locks in the other three main sections when putting the wardrobe back together.
The cornice features a broken pediment decoration with inset foliate carvings and sits above the main wardrobe section locking them into place. The two cupboard doors feature full length bevelled mirrors and open to reveal hanging space fitted with brass hooks around the interior. The left hand section also contains the makers plaque as described above. Flanked by the wardrobe doors there is a small two door storage cupboard featuring decoratively carved panels. The cupboard space is fitted with a single, removable shelf. Below the small cupboard there is a chest of four graduated drawers with Georgian style pierced brass drawer pulls. The drawers are dovetailed and the top most drawer has an sloped drawer front. The wardrobe stands on a plinth base.
This is an antique item of furniture and as such should be expected to show some age with various marks picked up over the years. The lock plates to the wardrobe and cupboard doors have been sympathetically replaced. The mirrors show some corrosion to the top right hand corner of the right hand door. Otherwise the wardrobe is in good condition for age.
