A Victorian antique work table with a strong early art deco design influence.
With a beautifully grained oval top sitting over a single, traditionally dovetailed, drawer. Below the drawer the work box can be accessed by sliding out from the front. This would have traditionally been used to store sewing implements and as can be seen in the pictures it still has the original lining.
The top is supported on a steam bent mahogany cradle which follows the shaped contour of the sewing box above. This is what gives this item a real 'art deco' feel and is a somewhat unusual design given the very Victorian styles of the rest of the piece. The table stands on stunning hand carved scrolled feet which support the circular plinth which in turn develops into a carved foliate pedestal.
This is an antique item furniture and as such should be expected to show some age and character. With that said this table is in very good condition as can be seen in the pictures supplied. The interior lining of the sewing box is faded and well used.
