A pair of very rare Chinese Huanghuali arm chairs. The horseshoe curved top rail terminates in out swept arms which are in turn supported by the hook of the front chair leg. The back rest features stunning pierced carvings depicting the mythical 'Qilin' dragon from ancient Chinese folklore. The seat is formed with woven string allowing the chair to fold together on the hinged legs. The footrest features mounted brass decorations.
These chairs are exceptional in their quality and rarity, Christie's of London realised a price of £39,650 on a similar 19th century Huanghuali SINGLE chair...take a look here for verification. We are very happy for potential clients to view these chairs in person prior to purchase.
