A Georgian antique writing box with compartmentalised interior. With a stunning grain across the top which opens on brass hinges and is held in position with the brass chain. There is a brass plaque to the top of the box and brass lock plate to the front (no key supplied) and brass stringing frames the top (please refer to the condition report above). There are a pair of pull-out brass carry handles located to the centre of the left and right hand sides of the box.
Once opened up the interior reveals the pen tray to the front with smaller storage compartments flanking either side. Turning the bow over we can see green fabric which protects anything the box is stored on from scratching.
This is a charming little piece of Georgian history that would sit well as a decorative item in a living room/home office or even as a jewellery/watch box for the bedroom.
This is an antique item and should be expected to show some age. Please study the supplied pictures carefully to ascertain condition. There is some damage to the inlaid brass stringing around the outer edge of the top of the box was has since been repaired (pictured) although this is not immediately noticeable. There are some scratches/marks to the top than can be seen at an angle.
