A contemporary extending dining table with a single additional leaf. The extension leaf stores inside the table, resting on the two pedestals, when not in use. The extension mechanism is operated by simply pulling on one end of the table. This powers a cog which helps to feed the other side out and reveal the spare leaf within. The top of the table has an interesting split veneer/section grain pattern which adds interest. The corners of the table top are heavily rounded although not to the point of being oval.
The top is supported on two turned pedestals joined by a central stretcher with turned rail decorations. Each pedestal develops into a cabriole leg terminating in a traditional ball and claw foot.
Although previously used this dining set is generally in very good condition. There will be the odd superficial mark here and there through everyday use but nothing requiring repair. A couple of the small dowel pegs on the chairs are missing. Otherwise the chair frames are all rock solid and the extension mechanism on the dining table works perfectly.
